Gatesville Pregnancy Resource Center | Statement of Faith

All employees, volunteers and board members are required to agree and abide by this statement.

Concerning the Scriptures

We believe that the entirety of the 66 books of the Bible alone are inspired by God, inerrant, infallible, sufficient, and are the final authority for all matters of Christian faith and practice.

Concerning God

We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are of one divine essence, equal and united in nature, yet distinct in their harmonious roles. God is the creator, sustainer, and sovereign ruler of all things and fulfills His purpose according to His perfect, holy, and righteous character.

Concerning the Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is truly God, conceived by the Holy Spirit – and truly man, born of a virgin. As the God-man he lived an obedient, sinless life, died a substitutionary atoning death on the cross, was buried, rose bodily from the dead on the third day, and physically ascended to the Father’s right hand in heaven, where he now intercedes for His people.

Concerning the Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully divine and personal. His ministry involves convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. It is only by the regenerating work of the Spirit that anyone can come to Christ in faith, and receive His permanent indwelling presence and power.

Concerning Humanity and Sin

We believe that human beings were uniquely created by God, in His image. When sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve humanity became inherently corrupt. All human beings stand condemned before God, not just by their sin nature, but according to their own sinful actions. God’s final condemnation results in eternal physical and spiritual death.

Concerning Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift received by the grace of God alone, through faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. It results in the forgiveness of sins, the imputation of Christ’s righteousness, reconciliation with God, and new spiritual life. Salvation requires a personal response of repentance and faith, and cannot be obtained or maintained by works or sacrament.

Concerning the Church

We believe that those who are saved are placed into the body of Christ and should be committed, active congregants of a local church in order to obediently carry out the commands of Christ.

Concerning the Return of Christ

We believe that God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in the presence of the Lord.

Concerning Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: a covenant between one man and one woman, in a single exclusive union, by which their status changes from two individuals to one flesh as God joins them together. This covenant creates a new family such that their lifelong primary human loyalty is now to one another before anyone else. It is an earthly covenant between one man and one woman that God created and sanctioned to image the unbreakable heavenly covenant between Christ and His Church, therefore intended not to be broken by anything but death.

The authority of all Scripture witnesses to the nature of biblical marriage as uniquely bound to the complementarity of man and woman. The Lord Jesus Himself said that marriage was created by God from the beginning, so no human institution has the authority to redefine marriage any more than a human institution has the authority to redefine the gospel, which marriage mysteriously reflects.

Regarding gender, God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological gender is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

God created sex as a gift to be enjoyed within the covenant of marriage. God intends sexual expression to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of this marriage covenant. The exercise of sexual expression outside the biblical definition of marriage in any manner, including but not limited to adultery, homosexuality, premarital sex, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography, is contradictory to God’s design for sexuality and marriage.

Concerning the Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred because people are created by God, in His image. All human life possesses immeasurable value in every phase. Therefore, we should speak on behalf of the unborn and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death.

Statement of Final Authority in Matters of Faith and Conduct

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of humanity, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.

For the purposes of this organization’s faith, doctrine, practice, polity, and discipline, the Board of Directors is the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
